The contents of this web presentation is partly extracted from the bachelor thesis "Exploitation of Thematic Cartography in Tourism" by Jakub Zmrzlik, a student of the Department of Applied Geoinformatics and Cartography,  the Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague. New information will be used in the diploma thesis.

 

  

Abstract

More than fifty companies work at the Czech commercial cartographic market. They create maps used in tourism above all. Although maps are said by cartographic subjects to be fully professional,  containly correct and orientationly optimal instrument for tourist, in fact they contain minor or major amount of errors, they don't observed all the principles and fundamentals of thematic cartography and  requirements of tourism in their design.

This thesis defines basic principles and fundamentals of thematic cartography and  requirements of tourism, examine the Czech commercial cartographic market, characterizes it and classifies it and in conclusion values select commercial cartographic products according to beforehand defining criterias.
