At the Czech cartographic market there exist about 55 cartographic subjects, which publish a large number of maps serving in tourism. However, mapy maps don't observe exact rules and principles of thematic cartography or maps don't match with requirements of tourism, although they are declared as maps for tourism.
I value maps according to 30 beforehand defining criterias – Valuation Articles, which include basic principles and fundamentals of thematic cartography and requirements of tourism. In the section Respective Valuation there is displayed valuation of concrete map products, particular maps are compared in section Sum-up of Valuation. The first rate maps ate highlighted there, on the other hand I warn of maps which are created unprofessionally and are not suitable for tourism. And in conclusion in the section Author I give basic information about publications, from which this exploration was assumed, and about the author.
Now you can find valuation of sixteen city maps there, but in future I will complete the index with city maps of other cartographic companies and with other types of maps, which are used in tourism, as well. My aim is to estimate all the types of maps, which are used in tourism, for every cartographic company.
